How to Detect Malware in an Organisation

Cybercriminals are actively trying to hack holes or vulnerabilities and new threats are appearing on the network every day. It is necessary to have the latest version of the program you're using to stay safe. Here are ways you can use to detect the presence of malware in your computer.

i. When your computer is running very slow. If a resource-heavy program is not running but your machine is very sluggish, you could have a computer virus.

ii. Your anti-virus or firewall protection is suddenly disabled. A malware can deactivate the anti-virus in your computer. That is why it is important to check if your anti-virus is running without interruption.

iii. When you encounter suspicious pop-ups. You may have experienced some pop-ups telling you that there is a virus that has been detected with your computer. This could lead you to download software that is going to harm your computer.

iv. When your computer is unstable. A malware will tamper with your computer system such that it does not run properly. Your computer could crash and corrupt data

v. Receiving peculiar messages such as that a program won't run or that files won't open is another sign that your computer could be compromised.

An expert is usually recommended in malware removal and forensics. However in such cases where you have to take part; backup data, format the drive, and reinstall data.
